About The Global Risk Advisory Group
MIT Forum and Infosys Global Risk Advisory Group
On April 27, 2015 the MIT Forum for Supply Chain Innovation announced the launch of a Global Risk Advisory Group with Infosys – initiated with the mission to assist select businesses across multiple sectors identify, quantify and mitigate operational and financial risks. MIT Professor David Simchi-Levi’s analytics research in risk will be combined with multinational corporation Infosys’ industry expertise.
“Through this collaboration with Infosys and the Global Risk Advisory Group, we can help industries better understand and expose their risk by sharing our data science research, and collaborate to focus on the most effective mitigation strategy.”
Read the MIT News release.
The objectives of the Global Risk Advisory Group:
- Share MIT research in risk.
- Collaborate on industry issues and opportunities.
- Cross-industry sharing of expertise, challenges and ideas.
- Group meetings (not open to public) to hi-light research that can be applied to mitigate risk.
Organizations that do have mature models for addressing traditional risk types such as credit risk, liquidity risk, etc., do not have the capabilities to expose other risk such as: “Cyber risk”, “Security Risk”, Supply Chain, and “Operational Continuity” and therefore are not exposed, quantified and modeled for risk mitigation.
Data science and analytics can play a significant role in mitigating ‘new age’ risks that leave companies extremely vulnerable to operational and financial risks.
The benefits of the Global Risk Advisory Group:
- Group meetings at MIT to stay current on risk research and the most sophisticated risk analytics capabilities.
- Understand the new types of risks that industries and companies are facing in the ‘Digital Economy’.
- Understand where risk is hidden.
- Understand data science techniques and analytics that can be used to expose risk.
- Understand where their company is in terms of risk maturity.
- Understand how to begin developing a mature risk framework.
- Mitigate risk and achieve a competitive advantage.
Operational continuity is crucial to financial performance
Companies do not know where their real risk exists because they do not have the analytics and tools to provide them with necessary insights.
Potential operational and financial risks are hidden in enterprises and as a result, companies tend to focus on the wrong areas and make incorrect assumptions. This can leave a company extremely vulnerable to various operational disruptions that can have a huge negative impact on their financial performance.
Data Science and Risk Analytics Can Expose, Quantify and Mitigate Risk
The MIT Forum for Supply Chain Innovation and Infosys have come together to form the Global Risk Advisory Group to help industry identify, quantify and mitigate operational and financial risks. The Group will combine MIT professor David Simchi-Levi’s analytics research in risk with Infosys’ domain industry expertise.
